EMILIO MORDINI

Emilio Mordini (Orcid ID: 0000-0003-3569-4391) is a clinical psychoanalyst, currently based in San Vito al Tagliamento (Italy). He is the Research Director of the Non-Profit Organization NORIA, which promotes and supports studies on ethics, culture and identity. Emilio has a background in medicine and philosophy. He is an expert on psychological, societal, and ethical impact of emerging technologies. His research activity focuses on the collective imaginary, and the social unconscious; how they influence rational choices, shape action, determine futures, through narratives, ideologies, and values. He serves as a Research Fellow at the Haifa University Health and Risk Communication Center in Israel. Emilio is a member of the management committee of the COST Action CA19121 (Network on Privacy-Aware Audio- and Video-Based Applications for Active and Assisted Living). Since 1995, Emilio Mordini has served as a reviewer and/or evaluator in several R&D programs both at national and European levels. He is a registered Scientific Expert at the Italian Ministry of University and Research and external senior expert for providing support and advice on communication activities at DG Communication (European Commission) and member of the CERIS Expert Group at DG Home (European Commission). Emilio is a member of the Italian Psychiatric Association (SIP), the European Association of Biometrics (EAB). He chairs the ethical committee of the European Association of Biometrics (EAB).

Emilio Mordini was partner of the Psychoanalytic Institute for Social Research (1986-01); Adjunct Professor of Bioethics at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome (1994-06); scientific secretary of the Bioethical Commission at the National Research Council (2000-03); Scientific Director (2002-2013) at the Center for Science, Society and Citizenship (CSSC); Member of the European Technology Assessment Group - ETAG (2014-2019), Academic Supervisor and Professor at the Universitäre Fernstudien Schweiz (2016-2019). Emilio has been awarded with a number of research grants by the European Commission, within the scope of the 3th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th RTD FPs, and H2020, and by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme. He has coordinated research teams and collaborative projects both at international and national levels. He has extensively published on international journals, and edited several books. He is a distinguished international keynote speaker.
